Why is My Gaming PC Running So Slow

Have you noticed that your gaming PC performance has slowed down drastically? If yes, then it could be a result of many reasons below.

  1. Insufficient or corrupted RAM

Any PC gaming enthusiast knows the importance of having bigger and faster random access memory (RAM). The RAM capacity is very important for a gaming PC as it is where the game is loaded. The higher the RAM, the faster the PC will be and helps you to play the game without any interruption. The main reason why your gaming PC is so slow is that the RAM is not sufficient enough to load the game faster. A corrupted RAM may also slow down your computer. If you realize that your gaming PC slows down because of corrupted or insufficient RAM, then the best solution is to replace it with a bigger and well-performing RAM.

  1. Old graphics card

Another reason why your PC slows down when playing your favourite game can be the graphics card issues. Modern PC games demand high-level graphics cards in order to operate smoothly. The graphics card plays an important role in calculating the in-game physics. Therefore, if your gaming computer has a low-level card, then it is likely to slow down. The best way to fix this problem is by upgrading your low-level graphics card with the modern, high-level graphics card.

  1. Your PC is running on a hard disk drive

The hard drive that your PC is equipped with determines how well it performs when playing PC games. For instance, if your computer still uses the traditional hard disk drive, then it is more likely to slow down or even freeze especially when playing a very demanding PC game. To fix this problem, you need to upgrade to solid state drive (SSD). An SSD is much faster than HDD and can increase your gaming speed if it is well configured.

  1. Poor CPU performance

The CPU is the backbone of your gaming computer. If it is not performing well, then your computer will definitely slow down or even freeze when playing your favourite PC game. A poor performing CPU is usually characterized by overheating which causes the PC to slow down. The poor CPU performance is usually caused by poor PC maintenance and age. The best way to prevent this problem is by ensuring that your PC is well maintained. If the lagging is caused by age, then you will have no choice but to replace the PC.

  1. Your computer is infected with a virus

If you have not installed an appropriate antivirus program, then chances are that your PC is infected with a virus. Spyware, virus and malware can reduce your PC speed when playing PC games. They can also corrupt some important gaming files making things even more difficult for you. If the lagging is a result of virus infection, the best solution is to install an appropriate antivirus, then scan your computer to eliminate the virus.
